| About Us |
|
The brothers of the Kappa Alpha Order at UC Berkeley consider themselves students first and foremost. All of us are here because we made a decision to further our education and attend this reputable institution. We have an incredibly diverse make-up of academic concentrations and overall intellectual curiosity. The majors represented by the brothers in the house range from philosophy to physics, literature to business and an eclectic blend of many others in between. As students, academics are the primary obligation in our lives which not only broadens our intellectual horizons but also teaches the valuable lesson of balancing one’s professional obligations and social life. Many of the brothers are already planning their careers beyond their undergraduate stint, displaying a readiness to apply their education in hopes of contributing to their community and personal success. This notion of contribution also plays a large role in the activities Kappa Alpha chooses to sponsor and take active roles in. Our fraternity is the leading chapter in community service in the Berkeley Greek society, with each brother required to fulfill a certain number of hours dedicated to bettering the surrounding communities every month. Many of the brothers also participate in a variety of student groups on campus, further demonstrating the personal investment our members have to the Berkeley academic community. The notion of service, both to one’s intellectual development and surrounding social spheres, is an underlying motivation exemplified by every brother who becomes a member of the Order and will continue to define Kappa Alpha’s presence here at Berkeley.
